Government is opening up the economy for greater private sector participation - Piyush Goyal

    Piyush Goyal said that his government has opened up defense manufacturing for much greater participation in the domestic industry.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that in order to encourage greater participation of the private sector, the government is opening up the economy and is also working in different ways to remove entry barriers for new investments and attract more investments in country. Piyush Goyal said that his government has opened up defence manufacturing for much greater participation of domestic industry in a much bigger way and at same time coal mining has been opened up for commercial engagement. 

In order to promote new businesses, the government has also made a number of changes in single-brand retailing, Piyush Goyal said that the other sectors where big steps have been taken include civil aviation, agriculture, and financial services. The economy has been opened up by the government in order to attract much greater private sector engagement.  

Not only this but also Railways is also opening up for greater private-sector partnerships. In order to deregulate, remove entry barriers for new investments, the government has been working in different ways. Piyush Goyal gave all this information while addressing the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry. 

According to Goyal the productivity and income of farmers will be improved with the various reforms in the agriculture sector. About railways, he said during September 1-29, 15 percent more freight was carried as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
