    • Flipkart launched a 90-min delivery service Flipkart Quick in Bengaluru.
    • The delivery services will include groceries, dairy products & vegetables, and electronic items.
    • Presently Flipkart Quick will function in Whitefield

Flipkart has started Flipkart Quick in Bengaluru which is a 90-minute hyperlocal delivery service. Flipkart Quick will deliver grocery, dairy products, and vegetables, the service will also include delivery of mobiles, electronics, and home accessories.

At present, it will provide its services in selected areas of Bengaluru which include Whitefield, Panathur, HSR Layout, BTM Layout, Banashankari, KR Puram, and Indiranagar but it plans to expand to more cities in the coming months.

The customers will get choice to order in the next 90 minutes or a 2-hour slot can be booked with a minimum delivery fee of Rs 29. Shadowfax which received an investment of $60 million from Flipkart in December last year, will be used by Flipkart to provide an on-demand logistics service for the quick delivery service for Flipkart Quick.

Now with Flipkart Quick, the company will give direct competition to Swiggy Stores, Dunzo, and BigBasket’s Express Delivery service. Flipkart also plans to use Kirana stores and its logistics arm Ekart to move towards a hybrid delivery model.

Flipkart Quick will receive a major competition from JioMart which entered the online grocery space in May and is close to becoming the largest e-grocer in the country. Till now there have been no serious efforts from Flipkart side to crack grocery, it made an attempt in 2015 to facilitate on-demand grocery within 60 minutes though ‘Nearbuy’, but the initiative failed.

Now Flipkart through Ekart and investment in Shadowfax has built a robust logistics infrastructure and thus is in a better position to fulfill the demands of on-demand grocery. Flipkart is making desperate attempts as compared to other companies to crack on-demand grocery, electronics, mobile, and accessories which include a wide range of products through the new service.
